EVLOVER- a site devoted to the brave man left standing. Flattering, yet creepy. [via Kiruba]

things I found today

WozCam - a real, live webcam in Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak's home. You can even control it - pan, zoom, et al. [found via The Scobleizer]

Jakarta's Jon: Some say he's not a nice guy. Some say he's a nice guy. I don't really care - if he tells me to write a subroutine that I could've designed better, I'm not arguing with him. No way. [found via Scripting News]

new things

I finally took out some time (about 8 hours, actually) to make small changes to the 2 line profile on the right hand side column and finish the things I had planned out for this weblog:

Valid Code: This blog is now 100% pure, refined XHTML and CSS. I'd like to thank Sebastian Delmont for the really cool Validable plugin for MT that I used here. It autocorrects things like &s in URLs to generate valid XHTML.

reap what you sow?

Mike Wendland wrote an article a few weeks ago about millionaire Alan Ralsky who lives in a brand new 8000-sq-foot luxury home, complete with T1 Internet and everything else this sweet world has to offer. So how does millionaire Alan Ralsky pay for all this? Simple. He's behind 40% of the junk email you get in your inbox everyday.

Slashdot picked up this article, and soon we had Slashdotters churning out all sorts of information about him, including his postal address, which people eagerly used to sign up for every ad catalog and junk snail mail there they could lay there hands on! So now, Alan's been "slashdotted" with junk mail! Read more in Mike's follow up article.

jammin'

My graphic designing brain cells were getting a little rusty, so I thought I'd give the old image editor a whirl:

Jammin' - TpT members are going to make some noise sometime in December

hurray!

The DNS has changed, the server's new, and everything has moved.
MT is running, the pages are published and everything feels good.
The people here are pretty nice, and work with much aplomb
A new home, a place - Idologic.com!!

mushy mushy messenger

The reviews of the new MSN Messenger 5.0 have'nt really been too encouraging. And I agree. Other than being yet another unneccessary cosmetic change, this upgrade was just another incorporation of some completely useless, and particularly annoying features. For example, the extremely irritating MSN Today popup, a dastardly sin that the Yahoo Messenger had already commited. And a new set of sounds that replace the pleasant old ones. The new "user is online" sound is not quite what you'd like to hear at 2 o'clock in the night when you're reading a scary story. (Of course, they're far more pleasant than Yahoo's "user is offline" sound - a horrifying creaking door from those vampire movies.)

upsaid implements Blogger API

David Wouters at Upsaid.com has finally implemented the XML-RPC API for weblogging for the service. This means you can now update your Upsaid.com weblog using BlogBuddy, wBloggar, or any other weblog app. Cool!

I had started this XML-RPC project a few months ago, but was too lazy to actually go on to complete it. David then redid the whole thing himself, complete with weblogs.com ping and the works. If you don't know about Upsaid, I really sugest you go and have a look.

senti.mental

All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go
I'm standing here outside your door
I hate to wake you up to say goodbye

But the dawn is breakin', it's early morn,
The taxi's waitin', he's blowin' his horn
Already I'm so lonesome I could die

So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go

There's so many times I've let you down
So many times I've played around
I tell you now, they don't mean a thing
Every place I go I'll think of you
Every song I sing I'll sing for you
When I come back I'll bring your wedding ring
