good chinese food

If you're in Bangalore, do visit Madhu's new restaurant, Shiok Far-eastern Cuisine that serves good Thai, Malaysian, Indonesian, and Singaporean food and has a rather spiffy website with a "Chef's Blog" even. The restaurant is on CMH Road, Indiranagar, Bangalore and all the food here contains no MonoSodiumGlutamate(Ajinomoto), so you don't have to worry about brain damage or anything like that when eating here.

faster firefox search

From IITB, the Google.co.in server, which is the indian mirror to Google responds much faster than it's .com counterpart. Since Mozilla Firefox uses the slower google.com as the URL for all its searches, and I use the integrated search features (right click search, and the search box) a lot, I thought it'd be cool to have these point to .co.in in place of .com so that it doesn't take forever to access my secondary brain. Here's how to do it:

1. To edit the default URL for the search box, go to firefox/searchplugins, where firefox is the application directory. Open up google.src for editing. Change the "action" value that has google.com to google.co.in. Now all searches from the top right search box will be sent to the indian server. You'll need to restart your browser for this one.

messenger status yahoos

It's the latest thing that's not really got a purpose but it's cool anyway: putting all sorts of things into their IM presence / status. Yahoo Messenger's LaunchCast player automatically tells everyone you know what you're listening to. I have no clue why people would be interested in what you're listening to, but then again, I also have no clue why people would be interested in what I did on the night of Independence Day, so I guess it's better to discuss the hows and ignore the whys. So here's a plugin that allows you to change the status of Yahoo Messenger v6 to whatever you're listing to on Winamp.

there is a higher power and he reads my blog

A few hours after I ranted about how sad it is to be working on a saturday night, Nitin suddenly wants to play table tennis. "It's One o clock, dude", says Brain Sector 1. Brain Sector 2 is enjoying the drops of rain and wind on my face as I hold a packet of hot parathas in one hand, TT racquets in the other, riding on the backseat of a Bajaj Wind 125, back to the department from Hostel 12(which is decently far away).

We(four of us) played till 3 or 4 o clock(I have no clue of the time), folllowed by parathas with sauce and achaar, and coffee. Drinking hot coffee from a 500 ml coke/pepsi bottle turned out to be more difficult than I thought.

Indie Pendence

A very Happy Independence Day to all Indian junta! (Also to all my friends in Congo and South Korea, who share their Independence / Liberation days with us)

While we're all cursing our fate and fuming at the fact that the National Holiday that falls on a Sunday this year, I thought I'd quote somethings I learnt in Class 9 civics class. First, I present you with the Preamble on the Indian Constitution. This is not just any paragraph. It defines the dream that our ancestors gave up their lives for, the vision that they sacrificed everything for.

saturday night blues

As you can notice from the textual silence(wow, neat phrase!), I've been trifle busy. Most of this busy has been fun, and some has been ironic. Ironic because I'm annotating corpus(they hire manual labour to do this stuff) on a Saturday Night. Sigh. I don't think it can get more sad.

Anyway, allow me to throw a few links by your way:

It can just be transferred from one girlfriend to another girlfriend."
